Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is crucial and important major of studies for a country like Iran. The needs for oil and gas exploration, marine transportation and fishing contributed to progress of this field in universities.Many graduates of Sharif University of Technology are now working around the country indifferent shipyards.

The demand for marine research projects and better quality in university courses resulted in establishing the Marine Engineering Laboratory(MEL). In this regard, the Marine Engineering Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Dept.
Sharif University of Technology is now effectively working with state of the art facilities and equipments.
The laboratory has international activities and it is the member of International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC).
